Here’s How I Learnt Solat

This was how I learnt how to do solat, according to the Shafi’i madzhab.
It’s not complete because I’m still learning, but Insha’Allah it will benefit those who are also on the same path. I’ve broken it down into different levels so it can be easier to master.
Please click on the image if you wish to save a larger version, and feel free to share if you feel it is beneficial. 🙂
*Disclaimer: It is best to learn solat directly from a qualified Islamic teacher. This is only a compilation from a fellow Muslim who is still in the midst of learning.

* Please help me!

I am still learning, and might be wrong in some parts. If you notice any errors or if you can help me to add on to this to help fellow converts learn to pray, please do let me know. May Allah reward you greatly!

Masyallah, I love what you did here, this is beautiful. 😂👍

Don’t mind if I suggest a few pointers here.
Maybe you could add the “finger pointing part” while reciting the tasyahud in the beginning of “Ash hadu ala illaha ilallah…”
The finger should be down after “Allahumma solli ala muhammad, wa ala ali’i muhammad” for 2nd tasyahud.

For tashahud 4th, fingers should be down after “Fil allamina inakka hamidum majidd”

I hope its not that complicated though.
And appologize if my English is ain’t that good. Hehe. 😁
Do let me know when its fully done, or you need anymore pointers . 🙂

      Waaleikumselam 🙂

Alhamdulillah! I learnt something new from you! Didn’t know that there’s a difference for when we should be putting down our fingers. Thanks so much for that! 😀 I’ll keep your pointer in mind when I do the next version. If you have more pointers do share so we can all benefit! 🙂

Your much welcome. 🙂 Same here I’m still learning too.

Oh, btw it’s best to know at least a few of Dua Iftitah’s. Different Dua’s for different meanings/intentions/timings. haha. Don’t wanna stress you out. It’s just for your knowledge.

“Allahu Akbar’u kabira walhamdu lillahi kathira wasubhanallahhi bukratau wa’asila.
Wajjahtu wajhia lillazi fataras sama wati wal ardha
Hanifam muslimaw wama ana minal musyrikin.
Inna solati wanusuki wamahyaya wammamati lillahi rabbil’alamin.
La syarikalahu wabiza lika umirtu wa ana minal muslimin.”

Allah is Great profusely . And praise be to Allah as much as possible . And holy God, day and night I offer my face to the creator of heaven and earth , I tend to trust more in God and I am not among those who ascribe partners to Allah . Surely my prayer , I handed over my life and my death only in God god loud Worlds. Never shall I associate anything . And thus I was assigned , and I was of the Muslims ( Islam ) .

Syukuran alhamdullilah. Amin. Hope this goes through. Thanks to google translator for the meanings part. haha.

On another note, I like reading your blog, its interesting really! I’ve bookmarked it.! 🙂 Do keep updating please with your stories.

Till then, Assalamualaikum, and Salam Jumuuah (Have a good Friday) 🙂

Yes, I had previously wondered why a different mazhab would recite a different Dua Iftitah. And if it’s still called Dua Iftitah in that case. Thank you for that pointer! And thanks for bookmarking my blog too, waaleikumselam! 🙂

This is gorgeous. Insya’Allah you will be rewarded for your hard and heart 🙂 work. It will be great to have another version with the meaning included but it’ll end up too cluttered. So I’m going to print this and write the meanings it and bring it around with me so that I can memorise them. Great job sister!

    1. Meryem C says:

Thank you sis Maya:) I’m still improving on it, insya’Allah I will be able to have one with the meanings in as well, soon. Really happy that you liked it!

  3. Azi says:

Great job! I love it!!! Maybe you can also include the meanings of the Arabic recitations in English, so we know what we are reciting (:

    1. Meryem C says:

I actually tried that, but it became really cluttered. Great suggestion though, I really wanted to do that. Maybe I’ll find another workaround! Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂

These infographics you designed are absolutely wonderful, I like how you made the steps fit in circles so to imply the iteration of Ruk’u, I am sure this will be an excellent visual reference (or mnemonics) to kids or Muslims who find it hard to follow the all-written guidelines. Maybe you can make your infographic in printable version and the mosques or schools can paste it on wall or as poster. I guess these inforgraphics can even help demystify the Muslim prayer to not-yet-Muslims who feel shy to ask. Another great job from you sister Meryem 🙂
If you permit, I would like to make a remark regarding “Solat Level 3” inforgraphic, in the info bubble “memorize a Surah”, I think you may like to point out that reciting the small Surah after Al-Fatihah is only done in the 1st and 2nd Rak’at. You may wish to add this info beside the red pie-slice labeled “+Surah”, like you did for “Tashahud” blue pie-slice.
Thank you for being a real productive and proactive Muslimah, and may Allah bring you always closer to Him, Ameen ^_^

Assalamualaikum brother Yunus! Thank you for all the useful feedback, especially for pointing out the 1st and 2nd rakat thing. I’ve updated the picture accordingly. 🙂 Thanks for catching that, and for continuing to read my blog 🙂

Marha marha….May Allah reward you for this.I am ashamed that i did not even contribute to make this sort of thing for the benefit of our brothers and sisters.
Please allow me suggest an input for the solawat…perharps you might want to remove some of the tanwin and grammar rules aphabets for easier remembrance.
Eg: Allahuma solli ‘ala Muhammad,wa ‘ala ali Muhammad.
Kama sollaita ‘ala Ibraheem,wa ‘ala ali Ibraheem.

    Just my tots.
    Anyway great work!

    Jazakallahu Khairan.

Great idea! I’ll do that. Thanks so much for the input 🙂 Jazakallahu Khairan!
